The electricity of agricultural wells should not be cut off even for a second / The fuel required by tractor owners should not be reduced or cut off

Alireza Mohajer, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad, said in a meeting hosted by Green Alchemy company at Valiasr University of Rafsanjan:

Power outages cause many gardens to dry up and their restoration requires billions of cubic meters of water. The government is looking for a solution to prevent power outages in agricultural wells because food security must be ensured until sanctions are lifted.

Organizing fuel for tractors and resolving power outages for agricultural engines are on the agenda. Food security is no joke.

All issues must be taken into account. Fuel must not be wasted or smuggled. We should consider that 75 percent of the country’s lands are under 5 hectares and all the owners own tractors. Therefore, fuel required by these tractors should not be reduced or cut off.

These lands are used for farming and providing food. If the fuel quota or the electricity of the wells and engines is cut off, the agricultural lands will certainly dry up and billions of cubic meters of water will be needed to revive them.

He noted: “We are striving to resolve these problems. The electricity required by agricultural engines should not be cut off even for a second.”
